Okay so today is Day 33 of 90 in our reading plan and we’re inching our way there, we’ve covered so much!

If you haven’t read today’s verses yet, we’re in 1 Chronicles 1:20-20, go ahead and read and come back; I’ll wait!!!

Yesterday we saw the ark of the covenant returned and the establishment of David’s kingdom. But here’s the thing David’s son, Solomon, is going to be the one who carries out building the Temple; building the house for the Lord.

We see that Joab went out against the Ammonites, where he fought and defeated the city of Rabbah, while David was back in Jerusalem (and you can cross-reference more in Samuel if you want to learn more specifics on that story.)

The Jebusite, Araunah (Ornan) who owned the threshing floor, on Mount Moriah, that he’d offered to give to David (along with other property) but David wouldn’t accept and instead purchased the items from him.

Once David bought the land/threshing floor he built an altar to the Lord on it. David got it; he recognized the need for sacrifice behind worship. He worshiped wholly.

Let’s not forget that the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world.

Tomorrow we’re going to see Solomon step into his position as ruler, as king, and be awed as he asks the Lord for “wisdom”. When most of us would have asked for things of no true eternal gain, he asked for wisdom. I’m excited to see what 2 Chronicles holds!
