The Reason For The Season
Merry Christmas Sweet Family & Friends!
My heart is absolutely full this morning! I was up every 15-20 min through the night with Posie and when 6 am rounded her sister came in and sat with her, giving her zofran and a nebulizer treatment, and holding her as she puked over and over, so I could get dirty laundry in the washer and the rest of the puke scrubbed out of the carpet. The puked towels piling up on my bedroom floor, the sheets stripped from my bed, and dirty blankets – always endless. This is “normal” over here, but somehow it still amazes me: I wonder if Zoey knows how amazing she is. Do I tell her enough? Do I tell her too much?
God is so good, friends. He takes my imperfections and shines through them anyway. . . when I want to tell Zo how amazing she is (and I do, just this morning I was telling her she’s the best sister and a lot of sisters wouldn’t clean puke and get up so early to do what she does out of love) and make it about her – she’s in there telling sister that Jesus 👉 Jesus 👈 loves her and singing songs about Jesus and His goodness.. how AMAZING He is. She IS a good girl but she recognizes and understands that the ONLY thing good in her is Jesus.
He’s so faithful to remind me that the only thing good in any of us IS Him!💜
I heard a sermon this week and something stood out to me . . . what was being discussed was “the reason for the season”. We’re all familiar with the saying, “Jesus is the reason for the season”. That’s true . . . sort of. What was mentioned in the sermon was that actually WE are the reason for the season. Wow. I’d never heard that preached before. What a great reminder . . . it was because of us and our sins that we needed Him to come! Because of our sinful natures, God sent us a Savior to be born, a light to the world, that would bring joy to those who know Him; that we would have a way to be reconciled to Him again someday. He came to bridge the gap between the Father and mankind forever; He was born, lived, and died for us! He did it on our behalf!
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 🎁 2 Corinthians 9:15
“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
