Day 14 of 90 of our Bible reading plan and today we’re reading Numbers 9-16. Well, I already did, if you haven’t, I think you should. I have to tell you, my heart is just really torn up right now. . . and this is probably a good place for us to stop and talk about it since we’re learning about these people grumbling the way they have been. Let’s chat for a minute about what’s going on in the book and I’ll tell you how torn up my heart is.

So the Lord has instructed Moses to tell the people to have the passover.

They do.

Then we see the people are complaining about their hardships and this angered the Lord and then came the fire (so that place was called Taberah).

Then they complained for meat (among other foods), they were sick of manna . . .the manna they were blessed with every morning and didn’t have to work for. So then comes a plague.

I just think, sorry Moses, that must have sucked to hear all that complaining, from a bunch of people that just weren’t grateful. But don’t we all do that sometimes?

But today I keep thinking. . . my heart is so heavy. I’ve really been struggling the last month and my heart has been breaking every day and I have something that I’m hanging on to that I just can’t seem to sit down and walk away from. I just can’t let it go. My heart hurts so bad. I’m a pretty tender hearted girl anyway, but this sure has me in a hold. If you’ve ever needed someone to just wrap their arms around you and tell you that you’re not a terrible person, that we all have choices to make and life moves on, then you know how I feel; that’s where I am. But I sort of haven’t talked to anyone about it because I just think that people aren’t going to understand my heart and I don’t think that I’m suppose to “complain” about the hurt I have in my heart because I know where God’s brought me in life and I feel like I’m just complaining if I focus on it. It’s a very dumb and consuming and exhausting feeling. So I just think that today is a really good day to read these verses, it’s simply a good reminder that we need to be content, and we need to be living with a heart of gratitude.
