Day 14: Pray for Posie

Day 14: Pray for Posie

Last night went pretty good. She had some funny breathing for a bit but was okay on her vitals. She does have sleep apnea so I have to remember that. She had OT first thing and then feeding. She was adorable in OT, she worked hard and Ms. Stephanie said she could barely keep up with her today.

She graduated to a table today! WooHoo!
She really likes this weeks doctor.

We came back to the room and Posie played with her ponie and dolly. Our dr for the day came in and she actually got Posie to speak to her. That’s the first time that’s happened, how exciting!

Her hair is on point!
It was only about 79degrees out when we went outside and felt so great! Look at that sweet smile!
She can HulaHoop like a boss!

I’ve been speaking to the psychologists, dietician, and other therapists today regarding her crying for food, her weight gain (she keeps gaining), and other stuff. Beginning today they’re reducing her afternoon bottle to just 4oz a day. From now on she’ll get it till they decide otherwise, we have our “Huddle” on Wednesday.

We got a new cup to measure how much she drinks in between meals. She is so excited about it!

She’s really excited for the new cup she got today, her very own hospital mug. I’m excited too, because I know she’s not going to be drinking from my cup anymore!

This is the Child Life Specialist that she adores.
Working so hard on that pretty picture.

A Child Life Specialist came and took her to play in the playroom w/another child. Well they colored, but same thing. She really, really likes this lady. She’s very kind and Posie has given her a few hugs. There are now 6 ladies up here she’s hugged the past two weeks, that’s her love language . . . of course, it’s mine, too.

So S-I-L-L-Y

We got a couple new kids today, a boy and a girl, and I’m excited because she’s one of about half a dozen girls in the hospital, we’re just over run with boys right now.

Working hard in OT
She owned the halls today

I had a nice 20 minute visit with the houskeeper this afternoon, again, and she’s always so kind. She had a lot going on and I talked some but mostly just listened. At the end of the visit before she left she said, “Thank you for your time” . . . and it just dawned on me that sometimes we get so wrapped up in what we’re doing that we need to pause and really look at our neighbor, because they may just need someone to be present.

Helping Ms. Meka get lunch out

Today she tried some different foods and ate celery and carrots with ranch. She said she likes the celery more because it tastes like lettuce (what!?) and doesn’t like the ranch. Excuse me??? Whose kids are you even? Ranch can’t even help how good it tastes, okay!

Ms. Meka played cards w/her at lunch

So Posie is such a big girl and she doesn’t have to sit with the high chair attachment anymore, now they’ve already moved her up (starting today) to the big girl table to eat her foods!! WooHoo!! She seemed to do okay after only getting the 4oz at her 1PM meal, and I suspect they’re going to take that bottle from her altogether when we have our group meeting on Wednesday. She’s had a lot of transitions over the past two weeks and she’s doing so great but she’s also having a hard time dealing with some big emotions lately. Just today she asked me at 12:45 if she could take a shower and get ready for bed. Of course I didn’t let her but all I am hoping is that means she’s going to be super ready for bed tonight. Please pray for Posie!
